Costs to consider before the sale of your California House – Part 2

Repairs

Most buyers will snoop around the house in search of flaws that can lower the price. Therefore, fixing that broken basement window or repairing the faucet in the kitchen might help you save money in the long run. Again, these are things that you can do yourself and save some money. However, if you want to contact a professional, be prepared to open your wallet and pay several hundred dollars.

Home staging

Decluttering, reorganizing, and beautifying your home is a must if you want to attract the best buyers. To hire a professional, you need to spend a couple of thousand dollars. Instead, if you choose to stage your house alone, you might pay a couple of hundred. Some fresh flowers for the dining room table, a new doormat, some pretty paintings for the walls, and you can make your house look better to the viewers.

Landscaping

The exterior of a house is just as important as the interior. Curb appeal can influence home buyers and make them pay more. Hence, you will need to invest to ensure that the outside of your property delivers the right message. For example, mow the lawn, plant some flowers, and clean the driveway. This should cost no more than a couple of hundred dollars. But, if you want to impress, be prepared to spend around $3000 on professional landscapers to do the job.

Bills

Even if the house is on sale, bills still come. So, expect to have to pay them even if you are not living there anymore. There is still the need for heat and lighting when you have viewers. Bills are one of the essential costs to consider before the sale of your California house.
